We are a community-led, not-for-profit organisation in Greater Manchester — celebrating African heritage and supporting people through hardship and isolation.

M’Mbondo Manchester began as a way to keep our heritage alive and look after one another. Today we share the culture of the Congolese M’mbondo Community with Greater Manchester, and support people in our community facing hardship or isolation.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to strengthen community life by:
• Celebrating and passing on the culture and heritage of the Congolese M’mbondo Community and other African communities.
•Supporting people across Greater Manchester who are facing hardship, displacement or isolation.
We do this through community-based activities, events, workshops, and support initiatives that are open, accessible, and focused on public benefit.

What we do

Our work includes:
• Teaching the Kibembe language across generations;
• Performing and sharing the Esuba traditional dance;
• Cultural exhibitions, demonstrations and events open to everyone;
• Advice, signposting and support for people facing hardship or isolation.
All our activities are designed to be inclusive, respectful, and responsive to local community needs.

How we operate

M’Mbondo Manchester is overseen by a board of trustees who are responsible for governance, safeguarding, and ensuring that all activities further our charitable purposes.
We work in partnership with local organisations and use community venues to deliver our activities.
